The Iowa CareGivers Association Direct Care Worker Leadership Council is composed of direct care workers across the state serving as spokespersons and liaisons between the direct care worker community and the Iowa CareGivers Association (ICA) Board of Directors and staff.  The Direct Care Worker Leadership Council will deliver the pure and unvarnished voice of direct care workers and provide valuable opinions relating to issues such as public and association policy.  The involvement of the advisors will help ensure that both the needs of direct care workers and those in need of caregiving will be fulfilled.

190 direct care workers have completed the ICA Direct Care Worker Leadership Training. A Call to Leadership: A Direct Care Workers Guide to Leadership is a one day retreat designed to better prepare direct care workers for leadership roles outside the workplace.

A Call to Leadership: A Direct Care Workers guide to leadership is a prerequisite to serving on the Leadership Council.  Council members are also required to submit applications and go through a selection process.
