Day at the State Capitol

A Day Where Your Voice Will Be Heard!Direct Care Workers at the State Capitol

Each year the Iowa CareGivers ROC coordinates a “Day at the State Capitol” for direct care workers and those who support them. It is a great opportunity to educate legislators about who you are and what you do as a direct care worker. Those who register for the “Day at the Capitol” attend a training program prior to the visit to the Capitol.

The message to legislators in 2009 was “You’re On Your Own” (YoYo)...unless you continue to take the next steps to ensure that there are enough qualified direct care workers to meet the needs of you, your loved ones, and all Iowans requiring care and supportive services.

The “YoYo” theme was a fun way to get a very serious message out to those who are making decisions that affect you and all of our loved ones.

Let’s take the next steps together to make a difference in Direct Care Workers at the State Capitol

  • direct care worker wages
  • access to adequate health care for direct care workers
  • educational standards for direct care workers
