2008 Iowa CareGivers Month Celebration
Graduates of the ICA Leadership Program were recognized during the program and received certificates of honor from the Governor of the State of Iowa, Governor Chet Culver. Kate Walton (pictured with the group of direct care worker leadership graduates) represented the Governor's office at this event.
Iowa Caregivers Month is a statewide Governor-proclaimed recognition and public awareness campaign that has been sponsored by the Iowa CareGivers Association every June since 1992 to honor Certified Nurse Assistants, Home Care Aides, Health Care Technicians, and other direct care workers who provide 80-90% of the care and assistance to Iowans of all ages in a variety of care settings. The importance of this workforce is unmistakable and it is our privilege to say "thank you" for their dedication.
2008 Iowa Caregivers Month: "Touched by a Caregiver"
Often times what direct care workers do everyday goes unnoticed by the general public, it is usually not until a loved one needs care that these wonderful selfless individuals are recognized. That is why the Iowa CareGivers Association ROC invites you to join with us in the month of June to pay special tribute to this workforce; the workforce that gives so much to Iowans of all ages and in various health and long term care settings. Direct care workers often state their biggest reward is the satisfaction they get from knowing they helped another. They are truly touching lives by the care they provide and in return being touched by the people for whom they care.
